In a nation that is fast-becoming multi-lingual...not just Spanish, but Chinese and Korean as well, it can be useful to have your reminder cards created not just in English but in the specific language character set that may reflect your primary patient base for your medical office. For example, in Los Angeles, there are entire communities that are made up up Asian or Hispanic populations, where the medical office is catering to a patient based whose primary language is not English, but rather Chinese or Spanish. It these cases it might not be the best idea to have the appointment cards printed only in English, as many of the older population base may not speak the English language. The three examples above using the following language: Chinese, Russia and Japanese with the following colors: yellow, blue and gray. The flip side of the appointment cards will have the equivalent translation in the English language so that multi-lingual patients can be informed in both English and their native language. This can be particularly good for caregivers who might be taking care of elderly parents who cannot speak English and cannot read the particular time for their service in the medical office. As always, physicians should make a conscientious effort to reduce "no shows" to reduce the likelihood of lost revenue. Have your appointment reminder cards in a character/language set of another language in additional to English might minimize any confusion among your non-English speaking patients.
