Thickness of appointment card stocks:
There are multiple thickness styles in appointment card stocks. Ranging from very thin and flimsy to very thick We use a very nice 14 point card stock, which is very thick. The thickness of card stock is usually measured by one of two methods: by pounds and by line weight. You’ll often hear of 70 or 100 pound paper card stock. This can be a bit confusing, so the more common method is pixel size...The common appointment card stock measurements are from 10 points (very thin and flimsy) up to 16 points, which is very thick and sturdy. Our 14 point card stock holds up very well and does not bend or crack easily.
10 point card stock might be a little less expensive, but the savings is probably not worth it. This card stock has a cheap feel to it. 14 points is probably the best size.
The textures can be: matte, coated, uncoated, linen, recycled, matte dull or glossy. The lost option (glossy) is obliviously not going to work for appointment cards as this card stock cannot be written on in any writing medium other than a permanent felt pen. You ideally want a card stock that can be written of with all types of pen or pencil.
We have traditionally kept our dual language appointment
cards on two-sided cards where one language (English) would be on one
side and the other side (normally Spanish) would be on the other side.
We know have an option to make a the dual language option on
just one side of the card, where the relevant English and Spanish words
can appear side by side to same room for the card, for example, we have
the statement:
Has an appointment with the Spanish equivalent of:
Tiene una cita:
English text: Date/Time
Spanish Text: A Las
We also have the English and Spanish days of the week so
that the relevant day can be circled in the respective language.
This layout gives the advantage of leaving our free back
side of the card for other purposes. We can also include other
languages in the dual format, but it would be required that you furnish
the text for your alternate language as we are only familiar with the
Spanish text on the appointment reminder card. You can either send the
text via email or have a graphic designer convert the foreign text
format to outlines and submit that in PDF format to us.
